How are Facebook Users Confused By Twitter?

So Twitter has been gaining in exposure lately in the media, getting mentions on various morning shows and celebrity gossip shows (like Twitter being blamed for the breakup between John Meyer and Jennifer Aniston?) And I’ve seen a lot of Facebook users apparently totally confused as to what Twitter is all about, and “why would I tell ‘the internetz’ what I was doing?”

for instance, someone responded to a status update about this person joining Twitter:
” I don’t really care about “you” waking up; putting on your favorite shoes; going out for breakfast with friends instead of cooking it for yourself; thinking about going to the gym later; wondering if your bf/gf will have a surprise for you when you get home from working; going to bed now after a long day at the tool factory.”

Isn’t this exactly what people do when they update their status? I just don’t understand how FB users who regularly update their status don’t get Twitter? Wasn’t Twitter the status update before there were status updates? Bonus is that you can do all this without the stupid quizzes and lil green patches.
